Why is the snooze alarm clocks always set to sound at intervals of 9 minutes?
I mean, why Why not 10 minutes? In all alarm clocks I've ever had was at 9 minutes …
Other responses to the contrary, most alarm clock digital, in fact, given at intervals of 9 minutes of repetition. The best answer I've been able to find for this came from Cecil Adams' The Straight Dope "column: Apparently, mechanical clocks were a team that created the repeat interval, which was not very accurate (something in the 9 – area 10 minutes is acceptable). Apparently, in the early digital watch designers looked to the mechanical clocks were replaced and noted that the intervals were "about nine minutes and change" and was only nine minutes. Once the first watch was set that standard, other designers had little reason to depart from it.
