I think your reference to the representation of Sir Thomas More by Richard Bolt "A Man for All Seasons" was a splendid work translated brilliantly to the big screen. I guess if you're looking for a "change of character" then one should compare more to Sir Richard Rich. Rich is a vacillating opportunist who is putty in the hands of the secretary of Cromwell, which gives the position of Revenue Manager York and then scolds him for being pessimistic about the possibility From Cromwell: You look depressed. RICH: I regret. I lost my innocence. CROMWELL: You've lost that some time ago. If you just realize, may not have been very important to you.
